A focal wall, stamped with Chinese characters, spells “Noodle Legend,” while a sign with the texture of rice paper is a nod to classic noodle shops. The counter boasts a burlap sign with graphic characters that translate to, “A Bowl of Homestyle Noodles.” The soothing effect transports guests to the flavours they miss from home.

The client wanted high-quality custom elements at a reasonable budget. The challenge was sourcing and manufacturing custom pieces from overseas suppliers in China while maintaining strict quality control and managing communication across time zones and language barriers throughout production.
We assessed the site and operational flow, developed renderings, and selected materials balancing appeal with durability. We coordinated overseas vendors for custom pieces while creating construction drawings, then managed both local contractors and international logistics for execution within budget.
This was a returning client, so we had established trust and knew each other's working style well. They provided direction at key points but trusted our expertise for execution decisions. The existing relationship made collaboration smooth and efficient throughout the project.
Strategic overseas sourcing is key to our budget management. By coordinating manufacturing in China for custom elements and materials, we achieve 30–40% cost savings without compromising quality. This is the second Noodle Legend location we've designed. In addition to being much larger than the first store, it's also an upgraded version. We carried over key design elements from the original location into the Richmond Hill store while adding new features such as rice-paper signage at the entrance, grey brick walls, and a fabric sign above the counter.
