Dark-grey tiles delineate the entry and cultivate a sophisticated vibe. Two wooden stools introduce continuity that’s in step with the main area’s aesthetic.

Our Success
A focal wall, stamped with Chinese characters, spells “Noodle Legend,” while a sign with the texture of rice paper is a nod to classic noodle shops. The counter boasts a burlap sign with graphic characters that translate to, “A Bowl of Homestyle Noodles.” The soothing effect transports guests to the flavours they miss from home.
Noodle Legend is a celebration of place that melds ancient rituals with a fresh take on tradition.
Frequently Asked Questions
What was the brief/challenge for this project?
What was your design process?
How involved was the client?
How do you manage budget and timeline?
Strategic overseas sourcing is key to our budget management. By coordinating manufacturing in China for custom elements and materials, we achieve 30–40% cost savings without compromising quality. We manage production schedules, quality control, and logistics carefully to deliver exceptional value while meeting timelines.
What results did the client see?
This is the second Noodle Legend location we've designed. In addition to being much larger than the first store, it's also an upgraded version. We carried over key design elements from the original location into the Richmond Hill store while adding new features such as rice-paper signage at the entrance, grey brick walls, and a fabric sign above the counter.
The project brought the client to the global stage, earning:
- International Design Award Honorable Mention 2024
- Architecture Masterprize Honorable Mention in Hospitality Interior Design 2024
- LIV Hospitality Design Award Honorable Mention 2024
Do you currently take projects like this?
Of course! We love noodle shop projects because they're about more than just Asian dining. They're about promoting a culture, showcasing a design language, and exploring new innovations. We're passionate about this approach and currently taking on restaurant projects that value it.
What do you need from me to start?
Photos of your space and any existing floor plans or lease documents. This gives us a preliminary understanding before our site visit, where we'll take measurements and discuss your vision, brand direction, operational requirements, and design goals.
What's the first step to working together?
Email info@dexignmatter.com with your location, restaurant concept type, timeline, and budget range. We'll schedule a consultation to explore your vision and see if we're a good match for bringing your concept to life.
